How do I book a Tour?
All tours are booked either on-line from the contact page, or by phone, at (941) 586-2836. Our hours are from 8:30AM to 6:00PM seven days a week. I check e-mail first thing each morning, as well as periodically throughout the day  I will try to reply via e-mail or phone within 24 hours.

Do I need to know how to paddle to go on a tour? The short answer is no, but it certainly helps. As a certified ACA instructor I give a BRIEF lesson on how to control the kayak, and you learn on the fly. Most people gain confidence in minutes. To actually learn proper technique and lifelong skills, may I suggest my introductory kayak classes. Please call for more details, or visit our "Tours(and more...)" page.

Are there Alligators in the waters where we will be paddling?
Never say never with Mother Nature. However, alligators prefer fresh water over a salt water environment. For the safety of my inexperienced paddlers, most of my tours (95%) are conducted in salt water, which is not usually alligator habitat. Alligators for the most part just want to be left alone. As with most of Gods' creatures, a healthy respect for their space and environment is the best practice. I will ALWAYS notify you of any possible inherent dangers you would need to be aware of within the environment you choose to paddle. As your guide, my first concern is YOUR safety.

What if I have to reschedule, or have to cancel?
Although I would certainly regret a missed opportunity to embark on our adventure, a reschedule is preferred. If you absolutely need to cancel, a courtesy call the evening before your scheduled appointment is requested for a full refund. (I check messages first thing in the AM)  Or, if the cancellation is initiated by us, you are entitled to a full refund. For cancellations initiated by you at the last minute, (the day of a scheduled tour) a 25% charge of your total bill will be assessed, with the remainder refunded to you. A simple call or message the night before will allow you, and me, to have a great nights sleep.

Do I have to wear a life vest on the tour?
Nothing says "amateur" like a kayaker who does not wear their PFD. For your safety, I require a PFD be worn at all times while on the water. Besides, you don't want to make me look bad do you?

What else should I bring on the tour?
All equipment and safety gear is provided, although I would suggest a snack, something to drink, a hat, sunscreen, and good water shoes. For the walking tours, I would also recommend bug spray. Oh, and don't forget your camera to record this for your friends in the cold white north, or those held captive in urban purgatory. I will have a few dry bags on hand for those who need them.
