Kayaking the Woolverton Trail / Gasparilla Sound- This unique 2 hr. kayak tour in Placida, near Englewood begins through a maze of magnificent tunnels carved out of the mangrove forest many years ago. This peaceful respite magically transports you to an environmental paradise. We then emerge near a pelican rookery, and Dolphin hunting grounds to observe nature at her best. A very unique experience to see our local creatures greet the morning in the peacefulness of dawns light. Embark from Hathaway Park, and float peacefully down this gentle meandering creek surrounded by the many unique creatures who reside here. Glide among cabbage palms, cypress trees, and Spanish moss to observe woodpeckers, kingfishers, herons, egrets, and even painted buntings if you're lucky. One may even catch a glimpse of the elusive Limpkin in the shallows searching for apple snails. Join our master naturalist on a hands-on nature excursion kayaking Oyster Creek in Englewood, and kayak into the shallows of Lemon Bay armed with nets and aquaria collecting sea life from the ocean floor. After you have collected your bounty, our naturalist will help you identify, and learn of the wonderful creatures you have found.
